The nomination paper of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has been declared valid in the Dhaka-15 parliamentary constituency for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election. The decision was announced on Saturday by the Dhaka Regional Election Officer.

Earlier, on December 25, a delegation led by Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer collected the nomination paper on behalf of the party chief from the Returning Officer’s office in Agargaon.

From the same constituency, BNP local organiser and former General Secretary of Jubo Dal, Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, had also collected a nomination paper.

Besides the main candidates from Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP, candidates from six other political parties and one independent candidate submitted their nomination papers from the Dhaka-15 seat.

They are Ahmed Sajedul Haque Rubel of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, AKM Shafiqul Islam of Gano Forum, Md Shamsul Haque of Jatiya Party, Md Ashfaqul Rahman of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Khan Shoaib Aman Ullah of Janatar Dal, Mobarak Hossain of Bangladesh Supreme Party, and independent candidate Md Tanzil Islam.
