The Israeli military has claimed it carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes targeting sites linked to Iran’s nuclear programme and weapons production facilities.
In a statement issued Saturday, the army said more than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets took part in the operation on Friday. The strikes were conducted in three waves over several hours across multiple regions.
According to the statement, key facilities associated with Iran’s nuclear programme in the cities of Arak and Yazd were targeted. Among them was the heavy water plant in Arak, which Israel described as a significant site for producing plutonium used in nuclear weapons.
The military also claimed it struck a facility in Yazd believed to be involved in producing explosive materials used in the uranium enrichment process.
Additional targets included a military industries complex used for manufacturing various weapons, as well as a site linked to Iran’s Defense Ministry that allegedly develops advanced explosive devices.
Israel further alleged that some of the targeted facilities were involved in supplying weapons to Hamas and Hezbollah, and in producing components for ballistic missiles and air defense systems.
There was no immediate response from Iranian authorities regarding the claims.
