Representatives from Manikganj and Munshiganj districts have demanded the restoration of four seats.

They made this demand at the Election Commission (EC) hearing on the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies on Tuesday morning. The hearing began at 10am at the Election Commission Bhaban auditorium in Agargaon in the capital. Four election commissioners are present at the hearing, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and moderated by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

Manikganj representative Barrister Khairul Alam Chowdhury said, till 2001, there were 4 parliamentary seats in Manikganj district. In 2008, one seat was reduced to three in Manikganj. This has reduced the representation of the people of Manikganj in parliament. With four seats, the allocation for Manikganj has decreased. We have highlighted the rationale for four seats.

Manikganj District BNP convener Afroza Khanam Rita said, "I have come here as a representative of the common people of Manikganj. The demand for four seats in Manikganj like in 2001 is the demand of people from all walks of life in Manikganj."

Rony Mallick, the chief coordinator of the Munshiganj Civil Rights Movement, told Aparid, "Munshiganj currently has three constituencies. We have demanded that the number of seats be increased to four, as in 2001. We have also raised the issue of voting rights for expatriates."
