Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it had informed the UN Security Council about India's attack.

Islamabad says that it has informed the UN Security Council about the threat that India's direct attack poses to international peace and security.

The statement said that under Article 51 of the UN Charter, i.e. the right to self-defense, Pakistan reserves the right to respond to India's attack, and that it will be given at the appropriate time and place.

India launched missile attacks on Pakistan after midnight on Tuesday. The death toll in the attack has risen to eight. At least 35 people were injured in the attack.

Pakistani state media reported that explosions were heard in several cities, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh and Muzaffarabad. Pakistan called the Indian attack "cowardly".

The Indian government said in a statement that its armed forces had conducted a military operation called "Operation Sindoor".
