At least 639 people have been killed and more than 1,320 injured in Israel's ongoing attacks on Iran, according to the US-based human rights organization Human Rights Activists.
The organization said 263 civilians and 154 security forces were among the dead. Work is underway to confirm the identities of the rest.
The organization said the number was determined based on a network of local sources within Iran and reports from the country's media.
Previously, the same organization had also provided important information during the anti-government protests in Iran surrounding the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022.
The Iranian government has not regularly updated casualty figures. The latest official count put the number of Israeli attacks at 224 dead and 1,277 wounded.
Meanwhile, even though the war has entered its seventh day, the situation has not yet stabilized, and the number of casualties is increasing rapidly due to counterattacks by both sides.
